Since its creation, the mini has brought down far too many good women. You wouldn't think a little strip of material could be so damaging but with its unforgiving lack of material, it has wreaked absolute havoc on ladies just trying to do the right thing - exposing jiggly bits, magnifying bum sizes and trampling on the self-esteem of women who, upon turning 30, are firmly told that they have passed their mini-wearing prime. Sigh...
Well, soul-crushing mini, your days are numbered and now, the cool skirt on the block has a much longer hemline. Style arbiters this spring showed skirts and dresses that were long and swinging - knee-length, midi or maxi with hardly a mini-skirt in sight. And, unlike the long frumpy skirts of the past, these versions are sophisticated and even, dare I say it, sexy?
This pleated beauty from Club Monaco also comes in black, navy and mint and I love the idea of surprising its demure silhouette with a pair of killer laser-cut booties (a great pair of platform pumps would work, too) and a fitted leather tee for a night out. Or, if you want to wear it on the weekend, get an easy, breezy look by pairing the skirt with a white or black scoop-neck tee (try Jacob or Smart Set) and a pair of tan ballet flats.
P.S - Don't forget - students get 20% off at Club Monaco with their valid student I.D. Lucky! Also, a huge congrats to Petra Franken for winning a $100 White Oaks Mall gift card last week! Don't forget to enter the contest this week for your chance to win!
Do you love the new, longer skirt length?
